What do all members of the family of linear functions f(x)=c-x have in common? Does it mean which functions have the same slope? I'm confused.

OpenStudy (anteater):

Yes, good. They do all have the same slope, -1. So they would be parallel lines. :)

OpenStudy (anteater):

I think you interpreted the question correctly.

OpenStudy (anteater):

No, I do not believe it changes the slope if x = -1. y = mx + b, so in this case y = (-1)x + c, where m = -1 and b = c. If x = -1, then y = (-1)(-1) + c, so the point(-1, 1+c) is on the line ... but the line still has a slope of -1.

Oh wow sorry I'm deleting my answer I'm a math major but apparently not at 4am... Thank u for addressing that!

OpenStudy (anteater):

If it makes you feel any better, I have a math degree and I still make errors. :D

OpenStudy (anteater):

Humans are fallible. ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It does thank you :)

OpenStudy (anteater):

Besides, coffee is a bad idea at this hour. :D

OpenStudy (anteater):

Have a good night, y'all!!!
