OpenStudy (danmac0710):

Is there a way to integrate arctan^2 (x) wrt x, using a substitution or 'by parts' please?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

i would try \[x = \tan u\] \[dx = \sec^{2} u du\] \[\rightarrow \int\limits u^{2} \sec^{2} u\]

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

wait nevermind...that has no easy answer :{

OpenStudy (john_es):

Do you mean, \[\int\arctan^2{x} dx\]?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=+integral+arctan%28x%29%5E2+dx so in short , No cannot be done using regular methods

OpenStudy (john_es):

Yes, I think so :).

OpenStudy (danmac0710):

I did mean that yes. Sorry, my latex skills need development...
