Mona needs to photocopy an 11 cm wide by 15 cm long picture from a book for her report. She wants to enlarge the picture so that its length will be 30 cm. How wide will the enlarged picture be?

What do you think should not change when you enlarge an image?

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Here, if she wants to INCREASE length! She'd also want to increase width! I mean who wants a stretched image right!? :D Originally the frame is 11cm wide and 15cm long She wants the frame as ? cm wide and 30cm long! She wants to INCREASE it Proportionally! So if length triples Even the width should triple! :D Okay? So here Wide/Length ratio should be a constant! SO 11/15 = x/30 [Where x is the width she wants] So x = 22cm!!! :D So the enlarged picture will be 22cm wide! ^_^ Understood? :)

3_sisters.jpg is an enlarged form of 3_sisters.jpg in my attachments. Can you tell me what is wrong with this?
