Can someone help please? Thanks! How is using a number line to add or subtract positive and negative numbers similar to going traveling east and west on a compass rose? Provide a story problem that would illustrate the use of traveling east and west. If anyone can help me with this, I will be thankful.

I love stories ^.^ Which do you like better? East or west?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're being awfully quiet -_-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh Im sorry. East please.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I bet i can figure west out myself.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no... it's got nothing to do with that \( silly\) ^.^ It just means we represent 'east' with positive and 'west' with negative :D ready? :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sure, im ready

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well then, let's say we start at our home base and call it zero ^.^
