help with inequalities?! I'm so behind! see attached!
When its greater/less than or equal to the circle is filled out, when it's just greater or lesser than it's hollow so that should eliminate some answers right off the bat
I'm so confused.
quick lesson... if there is an equal sign involved, it will be a closed circle if there is no equal sign involved, it will be an open circle (<) less then shaded to the left (>) greater then shaded to the right does that help ?
you solve inequalities just like equations except for the rule that when dividing/multiplying by a negative number, the sign changes
shall we work on your first attachment ?
lets solve the equations.... (a) c + 7 <= 3 (subtract 7 from both sides) c <= 3 - 7 c <= -4 (b) c - 3 < 1 (add 3 to both sides) c < 1 + 3 c < 4 (c) c - 7 < 3 (add 7 to both sides) c < 3 + 7 c < 10 Graph 1 -- it has an open circle on 10 (this means the answer will not contain an equal sign. The point (on 10) is shaded to the left,(this means that the answer is LESS then 10. So what do you think the answer is ? Graph 2 -- it has a closed circle on -4 (this means that your answer WILL have an equal sign. Shading to the left means your answer is = or less then -4. Which one do you think is the answer ?
