PLEASE HELP! Select the system of linear inequalities whose solution is graphed. system of linear equations A. x ≥ –3, y ≥ x – 2 B. x > –3, 5y ≥ –4x – 10 C. x > –3, y ≥ –x + 1 D. x > –2, y ≥ –x – 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There is the graph.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Take , we are not here for medals actually, so dont say like that please . :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do u think is the answer and why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha, rephrasing my words " most of us, not here for medals" :P :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jdoe0001

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

I say A.

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

I used elimination btw. Would you like to know the technique? It's fast :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why? Thanks alot though!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes i'd love to!

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

I'm wrong btw, it's not A. I'll post the way first followed by the answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Alright so first I looked at the easiest to see, the vertical line on the left. Obviously, it is a line on x = -3, so D is out. Then you look at the line. What kind of line is it? Is it full, is it dotted? Dotted means the particular value of x itself is not included, so the inequality cannot be a '___ or equal to' so A is out(I made this mistake). Then you look at the other line, and get its equation. Note: make sure you change the y equation for B in the form of y=mx + c. A fast way to get that equation is to look at the y-intercept first. Here the line passes through y=-2 when x is 0. y-intercept is the value of c in the line equation so...? Side note: This is the fast way for MCQs. The actual way to work with graphing inequalities is to know which sides of the lines are shaded. Remember this: more is above and to the right, less is below and to the left. :)

I'm sorry I wasn't completely honest when I wrote it. I said I'll give the answer but I'd like to see if you can finish where I left it first.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thnx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I tried but cant get it. Can you please tell me the answer?

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

B. Can you check if it is right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i still dont get how to check? @Luigi0210

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

No I mean can you know immediately if that answer is correct or do you have to show to your teacher first?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

show teacher

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can i just get an answer sorry if im being rude

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hello?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@wolfe8

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Oh sorry. Well I gave my answer to be B earlier because the y-intercept is -2 and when you rewrite the equation in B you get c(y-intercept) to be -2
