OpenStudy (calculusxy):

In a right triangle the measures of the acute angle are in the ratio 2:3. What is the measure of the smaller angle? @JuanitaM

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

what is the sum of the 2 acute angles?

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

It only says the ratio which is 2:3.

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

it also says the triangle is a right triangle |dw:1379975343086:dw|

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

I am guessing that it is like this: |dw:1379975413687:dw|

I agree with your set up. set all 3 angles to equal 180 and solve for x x = 18 smaller angle is 2x = 36 dgrees

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

the sum of the 2 acute angles = 90 2x + 3x = 90 5x = 90 x = 18 2x = 36 degrees
