If a train travels 420 miles in 6 hours, how many hours would it take, traveling at the same rate, to travel a total of 560 miles? Please tell me how to solve this.

OpenStudy (debbieg):

First, find the rate that it is traveling. If it travels 420 miles in 6 hours, then it's rate is: \(\dfrac{ 420 }{ 6 }\) mph Now that you have the rate, just divide that into the 560 miles, to find how many hours it will take to travel that distance (at the same rate). Distance/rate = time and Distance/time = rate
