well more rubber bands would def be better in regards to linear force

rubber bands eventually get exhausted and can tear. using more rubber bands, that limitation is extended

to prove it stretch the rubbers in units and compare the force
you should get that while the many rubbers have a higher force, their
force over the unit lengths is more linear.
