15=8x^2-14x

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

rearrange \[ax^2+bx+c=0\] then apply the quadratic formula \[x_{1,2}=\frac{-b\pm\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its easier to re write it backwards.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

14x-2^8x=15 6x-2^=15 6x=16.4 x=2.73

1. Subtract 15 from both sides to set the equation equal to 0: _ 8x^2 - 14x - 15 = 0 2. Factor your equation into two binomials: _ (4x + 3) * (2x - 5) 3. Set each binomial equal to 0. _ 4x + 3 = 0 _ 2x - 5 = 0 4. In the first binomial, subtract 3 from both sides. In the second binomial, add 5 to both sides. _ 4x = -3 _ 2x + 5 5. Now we need to find "x" by itself. Divide each equation by x's coefficient (the number in front of the x) _ x = (-3/4) _ x = (5/2) 6. Those are your two answers! Hope this helps.
