Solve the equation just like there was an equal sign instead of an inequality. Get the whole numbers on one side of the equation and the variables on the other. Then you solve for x.

2x + 12 < -12 Subtract 12 from both sides: 2x < -24 Divide: x > -12 Since you divided with a Negative number you have to swap the sign.

No...2x<-24 x<-12 you didn't divide by a negative number; you divided by 2. What you did was divide a negative number (-24) by positive 2. The inequality sign doesn't change.
