What is inverse of function and how can we find it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you switch x for y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and then solve for y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for example y=x/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=y/4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

inverse would be y=4x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that help?

http://www.purplemath.com/modules/invrsfcn3.htm This website will help you (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok ok thank you so much

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Your welcome :3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the point is, finding the inverse is change your subject of formula, before y = .... , make it into x = ... . then don't forget to replace subject X with Y again, and variable y inside the equation with X again. that is the inverse. ex: y= x - 1, change the subject to x, become: *x=y+1, then replace, the letter become: *y=x+1. the inverse not always be a function.

ok thank you but how you make y=x+1 from y=x-1
