when solving an inequality do you put the higher or lower number first in the answer? Would it be 4,-4 or -4,4?

Directrix (directrix):

I think it does not matter as long as the answers are correct. What is the inequality that has these answers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I made that up but the real problem is: |x| = −10 what is the answer A. 10 B. -10 C. 10, -10 D. (-¥,¥) E. No Solution

Directrix (directrix):

|x| = −10 Are you thinking that the answer to this is this --> 10, -10 ? If so, substitute each value in for x and see what you get. And, think about this: Can the absolute value of a number be negative?

Directrix (directrix):

Test x = 10 to see if |x| = −10. |x| = −10 |10 | = −10 ?? The absolute value of 10 is 10. Does 10 = -10. NO So, 10 is NOT a solution of |x| = −10. @mocham Is -10 a solution of |x| = −10 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

Directrix (directrix):

Correct. There is no solution. There is no value of x that makes |x| = −10.
