OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

Two identical conducting spheres fixed in place attract each other with an electrostatic force of 0.108N when their center-to-center separation is .50m. The sphere are then connected by a thin conducting wire. When the wire is removed the spheres repel each other with an electrostatic force of 0.0360N. Of the initial charges on the spheres with a positive net charge, what was (a) the negative charge on one of them and (b) the positive charge on the other?

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

I found something when I Googled this. Did you?

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

I don't use google.

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

Boy you're gonna have a tough time then.

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

using google is cheating. I have the solution to this problem, but I don't want to look at it.

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

I will probably figure it out over the week.

OpenStudy (wolfe8):

When you Google questions you get links to questions people ask on forums, or teachers' solution, both of which come with explanations. If that's what you're looking for. Well you asked for help, but best I can do is copy and paste someone else's explanation :) All the best trying to solve it on your own(that's the real learning spirit!) !
