Write an expression in simplest form for the volume of a box with a length of 6a, a width of 4b, and a height of 2ab.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

Area = length x width so you have the base area A = 6a x 4b so whats the area of the base...?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

24?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

what about the letters..? 24 is only part way to the answer...

OpenStudy (plainntall):

The equation for volume for a rectangular solid is Height *Width*Length, that means you multiply the 3 values times each other. =length x width x height =(6a) x (4b) x (2ab) =48a^2b^2 where ^2 means squared. That is as far as you can go until you know the value of a and b.
