(-2)^(-3)+3^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\large-2^\left( -3 \right)+3^2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-2^-3 = -1/8 and 3^2 = 9 answer 8 7/8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answer on the exam says \[\frac{ 71 }{ 8 }\] that is why I am so confused. I got the same answer you did.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it puts whole number in fraction, that's an odd answer for an exam

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you recieve 7/8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9-(1/8) = 8 7/8 you subtract 1/8 from so i got 7/8 as the fraction part

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*from 9*
