Linear Algebra 12 Online
OpenStudy (anonymous):

|8x - 9 + 3x| ≥ 13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8x+9+3x>13 11x+9>13 11x>4 x>4/11 or x>2.75

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no you read the problem wrong it is -9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes but everything inside the lines becomes positive because it is the absolute value of the numbers within

OpenStudy (anonymous):

really?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats what those straight lines mean....absolute value is making everything positive.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't think so, I beleive that the absolute value sign is removed and then you solve it as a regular equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but what do I know, thats why I am on here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol no because why would someone put those lines there if they are meant to be just taken away. Those lines change it all to positive.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the book I am going from is showing the signs to be removed and then solved

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How would you do this? |6x +4| + 9 17

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the signs are removed and nothing changes if it is already positive. But if there is a (-) in it then that becomes a (+).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and the 9 17 what goes in between that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry
