To multiply decimal numbers: 1. Multiply the numbers just as if they were whole numbers. 2. Line up the numbers on the right - do not align the decimal points. 3. Starting on the right, multiply each digit in the top number by each digit in the bottom number, just as with whole numbers. 4. Add the products. 5. Place the decimal point in the answer by starting at the right and moving a number of places equal to the sum of the decimal places in both numbers multiplied.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0.14 (2 decimal places) x 3.7 (1 decimal place) Now you do 0.14x7 = 098 Then you do 0.14x3= 042 but you add a 0 at the end so its 0.420 098+0420= 0518 Now you make your decimal Move the decimal 3 places to the right (2 decimal places+1 decimal place= 3) So your answer is 0.518

Multiply the following numbers. (You may use a calculator.) 14.3 x 0.017 =

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3.7 (1 decimal place) x0.14 (2 decimal places) --------- 14.8 +3.70 ___________ 0.518 (move the decimal over 3 places)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u help me with that other one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

14.3 (1 decimal place) x 0.017 (3 decimal places) ___________ 1001 + 1430 ____________ 2431 Move the decimal 4 places = 0.2431

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks! If I have more for u then I'll let you know.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're welcome & ok

Multiply the following numbers (You may use a calculator.) 3. 9 x 0.6421 =

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Perform the following multiplication. 73.4142 x 1,000 =

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3.9 (1 decimal place) x 0.6421 (4 decimal places) _______________ 39 780 15600 +234000 _______________ 250419 Move the decimal 5 places = 2.50419

OpenStudy (anonymous):

73.4142 (4 decimal places) x 1000 (0 decimal places) ___________ 000 (you can just bring down the 3 zeros) +734142 ____________ 73414.2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Perform the following multiplication. 99 x 100,000 =
