What is the range of y = 2x2 - 4? A. y ≥ 2 B. y ≥ -4 C. y ≤ -4 D. y: all real numbers

OpenStudy (phi):

the range is what y values you can get. 2*x*x where x is any number will always be positive. if x is -1, you would get 2*-1*-1 = +2 if x is 1 you would get 2*1*1 which is +2 the smallest 2*x*x can be is 0 , when x is 0 that means the smallest that y will be is 0 - 4= -4 using the equation y= 2*x*x -4 can you answer the question ?

y is equal to or greater than negative 4?

OpenStudy (phi):

yes. written as y ≥ -4

ok thank you
