How do you solve (3x - 3) + (4x - 14)

OpenStudy (zpupster):

remove parenthesis and combine like terms

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

7X-17

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

What you do is combine the like terms. To do this you re-order. This will help you solve:\[(3x+4x)-(3+14)\]Notice that all the signs IN FRONT of the term STay with the rem. 3x + 4x = 7x. 3 + 14 = 17. Your final answer is 7x - 17.
