How are pure crystalline substances characterized?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

I think this belongs in Chemistry section, but nonetheless, a crystalline substance is one where atom arrangement are ordered and very nicely organized, meaning they have a very nice geometry and don't move. Pure crystalline subtances also have a set melting point. You can test whether a substance is pure or not by checking it's melting point. Reference melting points are posted on many websites such as Wikipedia.
