Hi I need help with this question Find the area between the curves y = 3x^2 + 1 and y = 2x + 2 : Include a sketch of the curves and the enclosed area.

OpenStudy (mandre):

You have an idea how to do it?

geerky42 (geerky42):

You begin this by finding a intersections of these functions. You can find it by sketching curves, I guess.

OpenStudy (mandre):

Area between curves is = \[\int\limits_{a}^{b}f(x)-g(x) dx\] Make sure f(x) is above / greater than g(x). In this case f(x) should be the line. a and b are the intersections which you calculate by setting f(x) = b(x) and solving for x.

Ok thanks guys.
