what they mean is use the values from the ordered pair and see if the equation is still true. for example for: 95.)3x+5=y;(1,8) the order pair is (1,8) so you put in 1 everywhere u see x in the equation and 8 where you see y, and see if the equality still holds so I got 3(1) + 5 = 8 => 8=8 which is true, so the ordered pair is a solution.
