6. As computer words get larger and larger, there is a law of diminishing returns; the speed of execution of real application programs does not increase and may, in fact, decrease. Explain why this is so?

Think about fuel efficiency and carrying capacity of a truck. As it gets larger, the truck can carry more, but takes more fuel. This is great if all the jobs need more stuff. But what if your average truck gets so big that no job needs as much as the truck can carry? All that fuel being used for nothing.
