Geometry 17 Online
OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. A triangle has side lengths of 24 in., 32 in., and 40 in. Is the triangle acute, obtuse, or right? (1 point) right obtuse acute

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I presume you know of the Pythagorean theorem? \(a^2+b^2 = c^2\) \(\Rightarrow\) Right Triangle \(a^2+b^2 > c^2\) \(\Rightarrow\) Acute Triangle \(a^2+b^2 < c^2\) \(\Rightarrow\) Obtuse Triangle There is a special rule for the right triangle though; C must always be the longest side. I assume you can plug in values and figure out the rest? If not do not be scared to ask me for more help :-).
