Question

Find the length of AP and BP if both are Congruent Tangent Segments.

AP= 3x+6cm and BP= 5x-12cm

I have the formula and answer but I just need to know how to work out the problem in simple terms.

I figured it out.
6 x 2 = 12
12 + 6 = 18
18 / 2 = 9
9 x 3 = 27
27 + 6 = 33cm
Answer: 33cm

The actual formula confuses me but here's what it's suppose to look like:
3x+6=5x-12
6=2x-12
18=2x
9=x
Since AP=3x+6, by substitution, AP =3(9) +6=27+6= 33cm
