Find g(–2) if g(x) = 4x + 3. A.19 B.-11 C.-8 D.-5

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

Replace x with -2 4(-2) + 3 -8 + 3 = -5 D.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where does the g come in?

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

g(x)

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

is g(-2)

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

It replaced the x with -2 which you do with the other side as well. This is how the function works.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i understand the x part but why couldn't it just say x=-2? and the equation would = -2 instead of g(-2)

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

I don't know I didn't invent math. :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol thank you though!

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

Haha, no problem xD
