13=2y-3(y+4)

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

What exactly do you want? A simplification?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you trying to solve equations using the distributive property?

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

I don't udnerstand: 13 = 2y - 3(y +4) 13 = 2y - 3y - 12 13 = -1y - 12 Now the both sides nonsense: 13 = -1y + 12 13 + 12 = -1y 25 = -1y 25/-1 = y -25 = y Test it out: -25 = 2y - 3 (y + 4) -25 = 2(-25) - 3 (-25 + 4) -25 = -50 + 75 - 12 -25 = 25 - 12 -25 = 13

What did I do wrong? D:
