If you're a little confused about why, here's an explanation:
Years 0 to 100 were named the "1st century" (remember that a century is 100 years). Years 100 to 200 were named the "2nd century", etcetera. That's why years 2000 to 2100 are named the "21st century". Hope this was helpful! ^ - ^
