OpenStudy (anonymous):

what would the resulting polypeptide look like if the sequence is (AUG/CGU/CCC/AAC/CGC/AGC/AAU/UUU/UGG/GGC/UAA/UGU/AG

OpenStudy (anonymous):

TUC/GCU/GGG/TTG/GCG/TCG/TTU/UUU/UCC/CCG/UTT/UCU/TC ?

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

if u want a polypeptide then each codon codes for 1 amino acid...starting from AUG ehich codes for methionine and so on,...

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

do u want me 2 explain in detail?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes please

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

u know that there are 4 bases A C G T in the DNA rite? and in RNA T is replaced by U

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

u der?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

u wid me so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have the trna as AUG/CGU/CCC/ACC/GCA/GCA/AUU/UUU/GGG/GCU/AAU/GUU/C

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

are u sure dis is ur tRNA?

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

See every rRNA has a start codon...which is AUG and tRNA has its complementary...so it wud be UAC

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this was the very first strand Dna original -ATGCGACCCAAACCGCAGCAATTTTTGGGGCTAATGTAG WHICH I TRANSLATED TO TACGCTGGGTTTGGCGTCGTTAAAAACCCCGATTACATC

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THE RNA -AUGCGACCCAAACCGCAGCAAUUUUGGGGCUAAUGUAG

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THAN TRNA AUGCGUCCCAAACCGCAGCAAUUUUUGGGGCUAAUGUAG WHICH I THAN TRANLATED TO METARGPROLYSPROGINGINPHELEUGLYLEUMETUAG

OpenStudy (anonymous):

AND THE LAST QUESTION IS SUPPOSE THERE WAS A DELETION OF THE SECOND A IN THE MRNA- WHAT WOULD THE RESULTING POLYPEPTIDE LOOK LIKE AND THE STAND AUG/CGU/CCC/AAC/CGC/AGC/AAU/UUU/UGG/GGC/UAA/UGU/AG

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

ATGCGACCCAAACCGCAGCAATTTTTGGGGCTAATGTAG this is "TRANSCRIBED" into mRNA UACGCUGGGUUUGGCGUCGUUAAAAACCCCGAUUACAUC this is ur mRNA.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

ur sequence is right...but all the T's should be replaced by U because u r writing a RNA...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

UACGCUGGGUUUGGCGUCGUUAAAAACCCCGAUUACAUC

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

with me so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YES

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

yes...now u r correct....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

GREAT

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

now check which codon codes for wat....codon is on mRNA and anticodon on tRNA

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

So AUG on mRNA codes for methionine. and d anticodon UAC on tRNA codes for methionine.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

SO IT WOULD BE METARGPROLYSPROGINGINPHELEUGLYLEUMETUAG

OpenStudy (anonymous):

RIGHT

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

no it wud not...

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

now in ur mRNA u hv d first codon as UAC which codes for tyrosine

OpenStudy (anonymous):

UAU OR UAC

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

correct

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

so u hv d table which shows which codon codes for wat rite? starting from uac-tyrosine...go ahead in this manner.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

UAC/GCU/GGG/UUU/GGC/GUC/GUU/AAA/AAC/CCC/GAU/UAC/AUC TYR/ALA/GLY/PHE/GLY/GLY,VAL/LYS/ASN/PRO/ASP/TYR/LLE

OpenStudy (anonymous):

IS THAT RIGHT

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

i want to ask u d seq that u have given is part of a gene? bcuz every mRNA sequence starts with a start codon AUG which in this case is not....while translating if the ribosomes do not find the start codon the mRNA chain is not translated.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

SHOULD BE THE AUGCGUCCCACCGCAGCAAUUUUUGGGGCUAAUGUUC

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THAT IS WHAT I HAVE

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

no....see the sequence that u gave me is the DNA seq rite? so to make it into an rna u write the complementary base and instead of T u write U correct?

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

the original strand that u gave me is dis? u gave me a double strand seq? ATGCGACCCAAACCGCAGCAATTTTTGGGGCTAATGTAG TACGCTGGGTTTGGCGTCGTTAAAAACCCCGATTACATC

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

u der? i thot u gave me just 1 strand of dna and d oder strand was the transcribed mRNA.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

then u r right...u take the strand which moves from 5' to 3' direction and transcribe into mRNA and then check which codon codes for wat....u are right

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

sorry for the confusion...the way u wrote it confused me...my bad

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

u r absolutely right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so than what would be considered the 5'3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what would it be called?

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

ummm.....consider the strand whose first 3 nucleotides complementary are AUG. it is just a strand of DNA. but during transcribing that strand is called the template strand and the other strand is called the coding strand.
