Find the value of P?

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

This theorem should help quite a bit: whenever 2 chords (for example AB and CD) of a circle intersect at a point E, then AE • EB = CE • ED We'll say AB=8.5 AE=4 and EB= 4.5 AE * EB = 18 We'll say CE=6 and therefore ED= (4 • 4.5) /6 ED = 18 / 6 = 3 So, 2*p-3 =3 p = 3 (which is also the length of ED)

Thank you!

You are welcome - by the way here's an upgrade to your diagram.
