@AnswerMyQuestions Stop being a hypocrite, you're a cheater too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@AnswerMyQuestions please stop denying, i have seen several instances of you critisizing people for asking direct questions when you do it yourself. instead of doing that, explain how they can answer it themselfs.

what you're doing is trying to get your number at a value greater than 0 but less than 10 by moving the dicimal.

then, you show how much you moved the decimal by giving 10 to the ____ power, the power is how many you shifted the original numbers decimal.

an example: Write 124 in scientific notation. This is not a very large number, but it will work nicely for an example. To convert this to scientific notation, I first write "1.24". This is not the same number, but (1.24)(100) = 124 is, and 100 = 102. Then, in scientific notation, 124 is written as 1.24 × 102.

the 2 in 102 is an exponent btw
