PLEASE HELP :( will give medal

OpenStudy (plainntall):

What is the equation for the volume of a cone?

OpenStudy (plainntall):

great, what information do we have and what information do we need? find diameter which is 2xradius given V=29.31, h=7 and pi=3.14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 inches and r u doing flvs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@plainntall so i need to find the radius first? @Nora4Christ thanks but i need to learn how to do this and not just get an answer. But yeah im doing FLVS, the online textbooks are crap

OpenStudy (anonymous):

me 2.. and ill give an example

OpenStudy (plainntall):

solving the equation for r and then substituting the numbers is a good way to do it V = (1/3)pi*r^2h ;divide both sides by everything but r^2 to start solving for r

the question: A billiard ball has a volume of 5.96 cubic inches. Find the radius of the ball. Answer and explanation: he formula for the volume of a sphere is: V = (4/3)πr³ plug in 5.96 for V and solve for r: 5.96 = (4/3)πr³ multiply both sides by (3/4): 4.47 = πr³ divide both sides by π: r³ = 4.47/π cube root both sides: r = cube root of (4.47/π) approximate using calculator: r = 1.12474 approximately 1.125 inches (or 1 1/8 inch) that's it! ;) hope this helps
