OpenStudy (anonymous):

The reaction of chlorine gas and sodium solid creates 45.6 grams of sodium chloride. What is the mass before the reaction? And how do I figure it out?

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

1. Write out the Reaction!!!! 2. Balance the reaction 3. Convert all mass to moles 4. use the reaction equation to figure out the moles of reactants 5. convert their moles to mass 6. NEXT REMEMBER THAT MASS IS CONSERVED! Add the two weights together and remember what I just stated.
