f(g(-1)) means: 1. first find g(-1), so plug in x=-1 to g(x) wherever there is an x, and simplify. You'll get a value for g(-1) 2. Now take THAT result, the value of g(-1), and plug it into f(x) in place of x. Simplify. That result is f(g(-1))
