OpenStudy (calculusxy):

James can ride his bicycle to school, 3 1/4 miles away, in 15 minutes. At the same rate, how long will it take him to ride to a town 13 miles away?

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

@Directrix Can you help? I got an answer but I wanna check.

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

The answer choices are a. 42 1/4 minutes b. 3 1/4 hours c. 1 hour d. 48 3/4 minutes e. none of the above *i got A. 42 1/4 minutes

Directrix (directrix):

I'll give it a shot. 3 1/4 miles is to 15 minutes as 13 miles is to T, where T is time in minutes 3.24/15 = 13/T T = 60.1852 minutes @calculusxy --> Does that answer sound correct to you? I need to check my thinking.

Directrix (directrix):

T = 60.1852 minutes rounds to 60 minutes. Is that the answer you had in mind?

Directrix (directrix):

How did you calculate this: >> *i got A. 42 1/4 minutes

hartnn (hartnn):

60 is correct :)
