OpenStudy (dan815):

can gauss's law be used to effectively to calculate the electric field of a cube with a uniform surface charge density? a)yes b)no c)yes, but only inside the cube d)yes but only outside the cube please explain!

OpenStudy (dan815):

@abb0t @wio @ganeshie8

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Yes, I think so. I recognize uniform surface, but I am not sure if it is open or closed surface.

OpenStudy (dan815):

of a cube* sry

OpenStudy (dan815):

and yes i think they are assuming its a conductor , so closed

OpenStudy (dan815):

so can you explain why it would be yes

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Then Yes, I believe you can use Gauss's law for thei given.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

I think they can explain better than me: http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/electric/gaulaw.html

OpenStudy (abb0t):

I don't remember E&M too well.

OpenStudy (dan815):

ok thanks u sir!
