If 1-(1/x) =3-(3/x), then 1-(1/x) = ? The answer is 0, but i'm not sure why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First solve for \(x\).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\begin{split} 1-\frac 1x &=& 3-\frac 3x \\ x-1 &=& 3x-3 \\ 3-1 &=& 3x-x \end{split}\]

And we get x=1 so plugging it back in it equals 0! Thanks!
