why methyl group makes DNA stable ? i want just simple and short answer

OpenStudy (aaronq):

where on DNA, nucleobases or histones?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have aquestion why dna is stable more than rna. and when im search i found there is a methyl group in thimen and not in uracil so i want a reson when i type in me report ""because of thimen inside dna and its has a methyl group thats makes dna more stable "

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i must gives the reson of stability

OpenStudy (aaronq):

Methylation is not the reason DNA is more stable. RNA has a hydroxyl group at 2' position, which makes it more reactive/less stable than DNA (DNA only has a hydrogen at 2').

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ooh !! thank u , do u have any report of that. thank u again

OpenStudy (aaronq):

you can find it in any biological chemistry book, or organic chem book that has a biology part.

no problem !
