Explain in terms of energy capture, why it is more efficient for a person to eat more vegetables, than to eat beef from a cow
It is something like this.........beef from a cow is formed after it consumes lots of vegetables SO when you intake beef you intake energy worth several vegetables. All this energy is not needed by you and you eliminate it from your body or store it as fat which adds to the inefficiency
energy you intake from vegetables is utilised to a greater degree by your body
I would also like to add up....energy required to digest the beef is many times more than that required to digest vegetables.
is it so?
found an interesting information on Google..........i remember reading this rule somewhere in school :P "When an organism is consumed, only 10% of its energy is transferred, 90% is lost as heat. If we eat animals, they ate plants. Two transfers occurred, so we only received 1% of the original energy contained by the plants."
Thanks guys! Especially @atlas, exactly what I'm looking for :)
