I need help getting my first body paragraph of my Argument Essay started, because it's hard for me and I don't know where to begin. My topic is: Religious Freedom. Medal will be rewarded for your patronage! :D

OpenStudy (firejay5):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What side of the argument are you taking? Religious freedom is a good thing or not?

OpenStudy (firejay5):

It's a good thing, but just a refresher what's religious freedom mainly talking about

OpenStudy (firejay5):

@LilCTheQueen

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I agree Religious Freedom is a good thing. In general religious freedom is the belief or principle that supports an individuals choice to believe in whatever they want. So, in short it means you have the choice to believe in whatever you want without being judged by anyone else. If you do not believe in God that is your choice, and someone who does believe in God cannot judge you based on your beliefs and values as a person.

OpenStudy (firejay5):

so how would I write a claim based on that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Throughout the years one of the most controversial topics has been Religious Freedom. During the Middle Ages, the Crusades occurred, a serious of Religious conflicts conducted by the Western Church and various Militant groups. But times have obviously advanced since then, why should we care what others believe in? Personally I think it should be everybody's choice to choose the religion (or lack of religion) without the fear of being judged and ridiculed by others. Religious Freedom is a right everyone should have, not a choice for someone else to make for you. ****I hope this helps! I think it sounds pretty good!

OpenStudy (firejay5):

@LilCTheQueen This is the whole body paragraph that you gave me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is the claim... a claim is more than one sentence. At least a strong one is.

OpenStudy (firejay5):

@LilCTheQueen How do I support my claim with information (fact, statistic, quote, percentage, etc)q

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Firejay5 I would go with religious wars and use those dates because they are irrefutable. If you get them from a well known source, use internal citations, along with a bibliography your paper will be solid. Avoid sites like Wikipedia because anyone can alter those, but it is defiantly a good place to start and can lead you to better, more recognized websites. But citing information and the source from which it came from is extremely important. Remember in an Argumentative Essay your opinion is just as important as the facts. Make sure the match up and the paper flows. I hope this helps, I pretty much laid out the first paragraph for you, Good luck!
