Do the distributive property.
1.5 * 3p = ?
1.5 * 1 = ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
4.5+1.5 right?
OpenStudy (goldphenoix):
Hmm. 1.5 * 3p = 4.5p. :)
Anyways, now your equation will look like: 7.5 = 2.0+4.5p+1.5
Now combine like terms.
2.0 + 1.5 = ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
3.5
OpenStudy (goldphenoix):
Good. Now the equation will look like:
7.5 = 4.5p + 3.5
What do you think you do next?

do it like you would with two step equations?
OpenStudy (goldphenoix):
Uh... Sure. So what do you do?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
cancel 3.5 which is 4.5 and then you cancel the other 4.5 by it self and then on the other side [4.5] thus making it 1
OpenStudy (goldphenoix):
Hmm. Hold. 7.5 - 3.5 is not equal to 4.5. :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Oh! its 4.0. silly me

Right so it's 4.0=4.5p. Canceling it will make it 0.888... and so on
OpenStudy (goldphenoix):
Correct. So p = .888... In fraction, it would be (8/9). I hope this help. :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Thank you! And just one more thing. How is can you make it a fraction?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Oh and double thank you for the medal! Its my first!
