Well if pi<t<3pi/2 then pi/2<t/2<3pi/4 And that area of the rectangular coordinate system, cos is negative and sin is positive since x is negative and y is positive there.

I just took the inequality given and divided by 2. t/2 is between pi/2 and 3pi/4
