When you write your main idea as a statement it should be

a. no shorter than a full essay
b. no shorter than 1 or 2 pages
c. no longer than 1 or 2 sentences
d. no longer than half of a sentence

C - a full idea requires more than a sentence, but anything more than a couple of lines, maybe half a page (maximum), is too much.
