y= -8x ....y varies directly with x. How do I find the constant of variation?

OpenStudy (psymon):

Well, you have 3 components, y, k, x. And it's always in the format of either y = kx (if directly) or y = k/x if inversely. So just visually, if you have directly, which is supposed to look liek y = kx, then it seems you already have your constant, -8

Thank you.....
