Which of the following statements correctly distinguishes between an acidic and a basic solution? 1)An acidic solution contains a high ratio of hydrogen ions to hydroxide ions and a basic solution contains a ratio that is closer to one. 2)An acidic solution has a high pH and a basic solution has a low pH. 3)An acidic solution has only hydrogen ions and a basic solution has only hydroxide ions. 4)An acidic solution has a much higher hydrogen ion concentration than a basic solution.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

acidic solutions contain a larger ratio of hyrogen ions and the more acidic a solution is the lower the pH so the answer out of the four is 4 since a basic solution can have hydrogen ions but it has a greater ratio of hydroxide ions
