Well, there are couple things to it that: 1. The Muslim nations weren't united to fight the Christians (during the 1st, but were united during the following 7). 2. The 1st crusade was officially sponsored by the pope (and the following 7 weren't). 3. Many people were unwilling to volunteer after the 1st crusade.
