6b < 24 divide by 6 b < 4. 4b + 12 > 4 subtract 12 4b > -8 divide by 4 b > -2 b is less than 4 or greater than -2 ?

b can be any number. no matter which one you choose, it will always be greater than -2 OR less than 4. examples: 2 is both less than 4 and greater than -2. -9 is not greather than -2. it is however less than 4. since the equations are "or" compound, it is still a solution. 14 is not less than 4. however ,it is greather than -2. because it is "or" compounded, 14 would also be a solution.
