What is a Greek-style democratic system and would it work in modern-day America?

The Greek (Athenian) system involved a single meeting of all enfranchised citizens. It was possible because the population of Athens was relatively small, and the citizens entitled to vote were a relatively small number of the inhabitants.

With a population in the 100s of millions, and universal suffrage, such a system would be impossibly unwieldy in the US as it would necessitate meetings of millions of people.

Representative democracy is the only feasible form of democracy for the USA.
