HELP!How would I define what a function means by using all three of these words in a sentence, domain/input range/output relation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3(x)=y What is the relation between X and Y, which variable is your input and which is your output?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x is my input, and y is the output

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, so a function does what with your input and output...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

using the word youre asked to use (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

relates?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep, so what might your sentence be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

X is the input, and y is the output, and a function relates to both. Where would domain and range fit into it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahhh, you've got to use them too. Domain is the amount of numbers you can use in your input, and the range is the result.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A function is the relation between an input and it's output; the domain being a set of numbers which can be used as inputs and the range being the transformed result of said inputs. my best shot ahahah

Thank you for all your help! I appreciate it
